[ Looks like it's that time again ]

[they waited in silence, ignoring the words on the ground. maybe, if he could think of something appropriately withering, Erik might have written something on the wall with the offending ink. but he couldn't, so he didn't, just getting to his feet and taking hold of Charles's hand while they waited.

it's abrupt when the books come flying out, and Erik certainly didn't expect it. the first one slams into his back, but it's the second that knocks him sideways when it crashes into the back of one leg. the third drops him to the floor as the flurry surrounds them both.]

[ the books knock him to the floor, rendering him helpless. He tries to move closer to Erik, but the volley keeps coming at him ]

[even if he could have, Erik would be hard to find, submerged in books as he is. but it's still audible when he starts to scream as the books begin to crush his hands and feet.]

[ he closes his eyes and gives up ]

[Erik stops screaming quite so much as the books move up his limbs, as he readjusts to the pain. but you know what? YOU KNOW WHAT??]

Charles! Are you listening?!

[ if he could shake his head, he would, but he just presses his eyes closed, biting his lip hard enough to draw blood ]

[good thing Erik can't see that. he's got to do this before something comes to crush his lungs. he grunts with pain, but forces the next words out.]

I'm still here, and so are you. I don't regret this.

[ that's enough for him to start crying as he croaks out ]

Me . . . Me too.

[Erik chokes a bit, because really, this fucking hurts.]

[ are we dead yet ]

[not until the big book floats over. when it does, Erik just coughs out:]

Fuck this Echo.

[ his lips curl slightly but everything is blood and pain ]

[and that's when the head-crushing begins, so nothing else was said.

boy, what a headache though.]

[ a crushing disappointment ]
