[Erik is inside the ruined submarine, striding into the lounge area and looking around. Charles continues to talk to him telepathically as he goes.

Charles: /Erik, you're there, you've reached the void./
Erik: He's not here, Charles. He's not here, he's left the sub!
Charles: /What? He's got to be there, he has to be, there's nowhere else he can go! Keep looking!/

[Erik wheels around in frustration.]

Erik: And I'm telling you he's not. There's no one here, god damn it!

[Behind him, a hidden door opens, revealing Shaw standing in a mirrored room. Erik turns slowly at the noise, noticing him.]

Shaw: Erik. What a pleasant surprise.
Charles: /Erik? Erik!/
Shaw: So good to see you again.

[Ignoring Charles, Erik walks into the room, and the door closes behind him, cutting him off from the telepath. He faces Shaw alone.]

Shaw: May I ask you something? Why are you on their side? Why fight for a doomed race who'll hunt us down as soon as they realise their reign is coming to an end?

[Abruptly Erik punches Shaw in the face, who merely warps from the impact before facing Erik again.]

Shaw: I'm sorry for what happened in the camps. I truly am.

[Shaw reaches out and taps Erik's head, blasting him back into the wall with his power. The mirrors he hits break, and Charles gains access again.]

Charles: He's back! Erik, whatever you're doing, keep doing it, it's starting to work.

[Erik, lying on the floor, looks back up at Shaw again.]

Shaw: But everything I did, I did for you. To unlock your power. To make you embrace it.

[Shaw flings Erik across the room into another wall. He hits the ground again.]

Charles: /It's working. I'm starting to see it but I can't yet touch his mind./

[Shaw begins to approach Erik slowly.]

Shaw: You've come a long way from bending gates. I'm so proud of you.

[Regaining his feet, Erik starts ripping metal beams and girders out of the walls and ceiling, trying to simultaneously block off Shaw's path and open up the room to Charles. Shaw continues to advance, forcing the metal back with his own power despite Erik's best efforts.]

Shaw: And you're just starting to scratch the surface. Think how much further we could go - together.

[Shaw slams a beam up against Erik, pinning him to the wall. He gets up close to the man, talking inches from his face.]

Shaw: I don't want to hurt you Erik, I never did. I want to help you. This is our time. Our age. We are the future of the human race. You and me son. This world could be ours.

[Erik, his head twisted away from Shaw, stares off into space.]

Erik: Everything you did made me stronger. Made me the weapon I am today. It's the truth. I've known it all along.

[He turns to look at Shaw. Behind him, wires twist down from the ceiling towards Shaw's helmet.]

Erik: You are my creator. Now, Charles!

[As Erik wrenches the helmet off of Shaw, he spins to try and grab it, only to freeze in place as Charles takes hold of his mind. The beam pinning Erik falls to the floor, and he steps away from the wall, walking around to face the frozen Shaw. He reaches up and takes the helmet from the wires.]

Erik: Sorry, Charles.
Charles: /Erik, please, be the better man--/

[Erik talks over the other man's frantic thoughts as he puts the helmet on.]

Erik: It's not that I don't trust you.
Charles: /--Erik, there will be no turning back--!/

[With the helmet on, Charles' telepathy is cut off. Erik looks at Shaw again, tilting his head against the man's outstretched hand.]

Erik: If you're in there, I'd like you to know that I agree with every word you've said. We are the future. ...But.

[He turns away.]

Erik: Unfortunately... you killed my mother.

[Turning back to Shaw, he raises his hand, holding a coin.]

Erik: This is what we're going to do. I'm going to count to three, and I'm going to move the coin.

[Erik lets go of the coin, and it starts to move slowly across the room towards Shaw.]

Erik: One... two... three.

[At the count of three, the coin slices into Shaw's forehead, cutting straight through his head before emerging out the other side, where it falls to the ground. Erik continues to stare at him coldly, tears in his eyes.]

Impressions:
- w e l p
- My boyfriend drove a coin into Shaw's head, something I felt completely
- He'sss not going to be angry, but he'll definitely be shaken to some extent because that was brutal.
- He knew a little of how people felt when they died so there'll be less pain. He's felt people die and come back to life via deco.
